Bristol’s YoBikes have been receiving a make-over lately.
Pictures have emerged online of the city’s famous hire-bikes sporting brightly coloured, bristol-style paintjobs.
The YoBikes, normally yellow, have been given the same treatment as many a Bristol wall and had a splash of coloured spray paint applied to them.
It was always going to happen – Bristol is famous for its graffiti and in some parts of the city it seems any surface is fair game for street artists including, it would seem, the frames of unsuspecting YoBikes.
Ben Newton sent us a picture of this multi-coloured bike said: “It was quite colourful so it caught my eye.
“It’s certainly better than seeing them flung in the river or up trees.”
Users on social media pointed out the paintwork was actually carefully done, with components like handle bars and gears masked off with serial numbers left untouched.
The funky paintjobs are the latest in a long line of, shall we say creative, uses Bristolians have found for the bikes since they arrived here in back in May.
As David points out the bikes have been found in rivers and up trees – and predictably some people have stolen them.
They have even been ridden to Bath and one went as far as Holland.
However maybe the fact that they have been covered in graffiti means Bristol has finally taken YoBikes to their heart.
